What is DuoDERM good for?

DuoDERM ® CGF ® dressing is indicated for use on dermal ulcers including full-thickness wounds, pressure ulcers (Stage II-IV), leg ulcers, superficial wounds, partial thickness burns and donor sites.

Can you use DuoDERM on open wounds?

It can be used on the body as a primary or secondary dressing. It can be used on skin tears and superficial wounds, dry to lightly exuding wounds, newly-formed tissue or skin at risk of further breakdown.

How long do you leave DuoDERM on?

Under normal conditions, DuoDerm can be left on the wound for 3-4 days. One of the advantages to using DuoDerm is that, unlike other dressings, it can be placed on wet wounds and wet surrounding skin and will remain in place due to the product’s ‘wet tact’.

How does a DuoDERM patch work?

DuoDERM® Hydrocolloid is an occlusive gel dressing that helps maintain a moist wound bed. According to the ConvaTec website (the maker of DuoDERM®), “On contact with wound exudate, the hydrocolloid matrix forms a cohesive gel which supports moist wound healing.”

Is Duoderm good for wound healing?

Does Duoderm draw infection?

This is a flexible waterproof dressing used to cover your burn/scald and reduce infection. When in contact with the wound, Duoderm forms a gel-like covering which can remain untouched for several days, but will need changing if leakage occurs.

When do you remove Duoderm?

* The dressing should be changed when: clinically induced when strike through occurs, or up to a maximum of 7 days. The wound should be cleansed at appropriate intervals. † The bubble may not be visible with minimal exudate. If this occurs, the recommended maximum wear time is up to 7 days.

Do moist wounds heal faster?

If the wound environment is dry, the cells will have to find moisture deep in the wound bed so that they can migrate. This slows down the healing process. In fact, studies show that moist wounds heal 50 % faster than dry wounds.

Does the sticky side of Duoderm go on the wound?

Remove the “´top´” white release paper, being careful to minimize finger contact with the adhesive surface. Hold the adhesive side of the dressing over the wound. Align the dressing with the center of the wound. Gently apply the center part of the dressing.

What helps skin heal faster?

Diet: Healthy foods rich in nutrients like vitamin A, C, potassium and zinc provide your body with the fuel it needs to speed up wound healing. Power foods like dark, leafy greens, as well as ginger, mushrooms, beets and yoghurt will also help your body heal wounds faster.
