It’s much better for extended car camping (multi-month to multi-year) and general outdoor abuse than any other sleeping pad we’ve reviewed. Paco Pads are also the gold standard for river running: they cushion hard spots, insulate coolers, promote lounging on less violent water, and are slept on at night.
Can you float on a Paco pad?
Jpw does not recommend floating on your Paco Pad. The main reason is because if there is a hole you are unaware of, your pad could fill with water. This will not hurt it, but it will make the pad uncomfortable to sleep on.

How do you get water out of Paco pads?
The easiest way to get the water out is to hang the pad upside down with the valve down for about 2 weeks. Every day you must take a minute to try and squeeze the water out through the valve. When you can not get any more water out, place the pad in a warm area.
How do you dry Paco pads?
Place it on the the south side of the house, where the sun can heat up the remaining water, and turn it into vapor. Then suck the air out with a shop vacuum. If you do this for a couple of days when the pad is at its hottest, you will be able to get all of the water out.

How do you clean Paco pads?
They can be simply rinsed off in the river. It is a good idea to wash them with soap and water occasionally so that rodents do not get the idea that they are something to eat in the winter while they are in the garage. Almost every western river outfitter who does multi day trips use Paco Pads for their customers.
