Identification
- Driver’s licenses or other state photo identity cards issued by Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent)
- U.S. passport.
- U.S. passport card.
- DHS trusted traveler cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)
- U.S. Department of Defense ID, including IDs issued to dependents.
- Permanent resident card.

Can you get TSA PreCheck without birth certificate?
You must be a U.S. citizen or lawful U.S. permanent resident to be able to complete the enrollment process. Eligible applicants will need to have the following TSA PreCheck documents : A valid government-issued photo like a U.S. passport, a state ID card or a driver’s license. A certified copy of your birth certificate.
What form of ID is required to fly within the US?
You must present an acceptable ID, such as a valid passport, state-issued enhanced driver’s license or U.S. military ID, to fly within the U.S. You will not be allowed to fly if your identity cannot be verified.
What kind of ID can I bring to the TSA?
TSA is currently accepting all driver’s licenses and identification from states that are compliant, or have an extension from DHS. Information on state compliance can be found on the DHS web page for REAL ID here. Beginning May 3, 2023, TSA will only accept compliant state-issued identification.

Yes. Even if you have TSA PreCheck®, you’ll still need a REAL ID or other acceptable form of ID starting Oct. 1, 2021.
