Indeed, if you want to rest assured that your measurements are taken by a professional, you can go to any tailor and ask him to measure you. It is very important that your tailor follows specifically our instructions to get measured.

What measurements does a tailor need?

These six measurements are the key reference points that most sewing pattern company size charts have – download a copy here for later reference.

  • NECK AND BUST. To measure your neck, pull the tape around the middle, coming from the back to the front.
  • WAIST AND HIPS.
  • FRONT WAIST LENGTH.
  • BACK WAIST LENGTH.
  • SHOULDER.
  • ARM LENGTH.

How do you measure men’s shoe size?

Plant one foot on the paper with your heel against the wall.

  1. Trace the outline of your foot. It’s easiest to have someone help you with this step.
  2. Using your ruler, measure the longest and widest parts of your outline.
  3. Repeat with your other foot. Take down your measurements in both inches and centimeters.

Which measuring device is used by tailors?

Tape measures that were intended for use in tailoring or dressmaking were made from flexible cloth or plastic. They are named “sewing tape”.
