16 and up seems about right, although I doupt many 16 year olds would actually find this show all that enjoyable. You kinda need to be in the same headspace as the author of the manga to really get it; that of an adult facepalming as they look at their past self.
Is Watamote a good anime?
As for the art and animation quality, Watamote is an above-average anime. Each scene is made even more depressing by the dark, often blue-and-grey color scheme. The animation is consistent (though there isn’t much of it) and, for once, a shut-in character does not look like a supermodel….Reviews.
