Winterizing your hot tub is not necessary for many hot tub owners. You should only winterize your hot tub if you will be away from your hot tub for three to four months in a row (for example, if you have a vacation home or you are spending the winter elsewhere).

Should you lose power, simply leave your hot tub covered until power resumes. We recommend maintaining the temperature at a minimum of 100 degrees during the winter months. Should a power outage occur, temperature loss is minimal and will reheat when power resumes.
Can plug and play hot tubs be used in winter?
For people only planning on using the hot tub in the warmer months, plug n play hot tubs can work just fine. If you plan on using the hot tub extensively in the winter, however, the high energy costs and undersized heater of a plug and play mean that you’re much better off getting a standard 220V hot tub.
